Council adopts key strategic documents

16 June 2026

At the Council Meeting on Monday 15 June Council adopted its Long Term Financial Plan 2027-36, Budget 2026-27 and Annual Action Plan 2026-27.

These documents were influenced by the community consultation process which was held from October to December 2025 including a Community Feedback Session for community members to present ideas. A further 14 day consultation was held between May and June for final comment before their adoption.

The consultation highlighted the following as areas where Council should focus its spending:

  • Community safety
  • Environment and sustainability
  • Parks and gardens
  • Roads and footpaths
  • Community care, home maintenance, meals on wheels.

Our Budget and Annual Action Plan see a continued focus on activities which support health and wellbeing, community safety, sustainability and access to services and programs for those experiencing disadvantage.

This year’s Budget includes a significant capital works program of $105.5 million, with the continued delivery of Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing, one of the most significant community infrastructure projects ever undertaken by Council.

This Budget and Long Term Financial Plan also commit to progressing our Dandenong New Art (DNA) project and continued investment in local roads and drainage, the Dandenong Market, public safety initiatives, parks, playgrounds, sporting facilities and waste and recycling infrastructure.

Advocacy to the Federal and State Government, along with ongoing partnerships, will remain a priority to help Council deliver much needed services to the community.

We will also be developing a number of strategies and plans which build on the priorities of the Community Vision and Council Plan in particular areas of importance for our municipality. This includes the Children, Youth and Families Strategy, Disability Action Plan, and Creative and Cultural Strategy.

Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback and participated in the consultation activities.
