Help us rename some parts of Webster Street, Dandenong
The State Government’s Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) has removed the level crossing on Webster Street, Dandenong by closing the road. As a result, new road names need to be created for sections of Webster Street and Cheltenham Road.
As part of this project, LXRP is also building a new road under the rail line that will connect Cheltenham Road to Lonsdale Street, Dandenong. A new connection will also be provided to connect Thomas St to the Lonsdale Street service road.
The City of Geater Dandenong, as the responsible naming authority for local roads, in coordination with the Victorian Government’s Department of Transport and Planning (the naming authority for arterial roads) and LXRP is proposing to:
- Re-name the impacted sections of Cheltenham Road and Webster Street with new names
- Name the new roads created by this project
Which names have been proposed?
The proposed roads names have been selected to ensure the road network remains clear and intuitive for motorists to navigate.
The roads that require new names are proposed to be named after the late Mrs Pat Dow and Mrs Merle Mitchell who made a lasting impact on the quality and nature of life for the communities within the City of Greater Dandenong.
