About the proposal
Council is proposing to sell the property at 275 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong, known as Lot 3 on Plan of Subdivision 41856, Certificate of Title Volume 8540 Folio 248. The land measures approximately 6.5 meters by 46 meters, with a total area of approximately 280m².
Currently zoned CDZ2 and subject to a Design and Development Overlay (DDO), the property was fire-damaged in 2017 and purchased by the Council in 2019 as part of a strategic initiative. The original plan involved demolishing the fire-damaged building and consolidating the land with the already owned Vanity Lane. This would have improved Council’s pedestrian network by linking the station to the market spine, as well as enhancing accessibility to and from the Market and the Thomas Street multi-deck car park.
During the Council Meeting on 8 July 2024, Councillors voted to cease the Vanity Lane project and reallocate the remaining funds to the Dandenong New Art (DNA) Gallery. As a result, the future use of this land has changed, and the Council is now proposing to sell the property. Please share your thoughts to let Council know what you think about the proposed land sale.
