Redevelopment Plans for the Hockey Field at JC Mills Reserve

We’re planning to redevelop the hockey field at JC Mills Reserve and want to hear your thoughts on the proposed scope of works.

The hockey field has reached the end of its service life and is in poor condition, making it unsuitable for senior competition. Hockey has been played at JC Mills Reserve since 1956, and today the field is home to the Greater Dandenong Warriors Hockey Club and used by many local schools. It’s a valued regional facility with a long history in the community.

To prepare for the proposed redevelopment in 2026–27, we’ve begun design work and are exploring funding opportunities through the State Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Program. The proposed redevelopment is subject to a successful funding application and Council budget approval.

What’s the scope of the proposal?

The scope of the proposed redevelopment includes:

  • Replacement of the synthetic grass field, including reconstruction of the subbase and drainage.
  • Replacement of the field sports lighting to LED hockey competition standard.
  • Replacement of fencing, player shelters and surrounding landscape.
