Working together for inclusion & belonging

Greater Dandenong City Council is developing its first LGBTIQA+ Action Plan (2026–28) to guide how we support equity, inclusion and belonging across our services, workplaces and community partnerships. This plan aims to reflect real lived experiences, respond to genuine needs, and reflect the shared priorities identified by our diverse LGBTIQA+ communities.

The draft Action Plan has been shaped through significant input from members of our LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee, whose insights and lived experience have been central to its development. We are also seeking to better understand both challenges and aspirations, drawing on perspectives from our broader community.

What the Action Plan will do

The LGBTIQA+ Action Plan will help Greater Dandenong City Council to:

  • improve inclusion and safety in Council services and spaces
  • support dignity and respect for LGBTIQA+ people
  • reduce barriers and address discrimination
  • strengthen community connection and belonging
