Help Shape Our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy

We’re updating Council’s Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy and Child Safety Reporting and Complaint Handling Procedure, and we’d love to hear from children, young people, families, carers, community members and service providers about how well we can improve child safety.

The policy and procedure explain:

  • How Council helps keep children and young people safe
  • What Councillors, staff and volunteers must do to protect children
  • How you can raise a concern or make a complaint
  • How Council meets the Victorian Child Safe Standards
  • How we make sure our services, programs and places are safe for children

What we'd like to know

  • Reporting pathways

  • Tell us if reporting a child safety concern is clear and easy to do, if any information is missing or confusing, what might make someone hesitate to report child safety concerns.

  • Accessibility and inclusion

  • Tell us if our reporting options work for people from different cultural and language backgrounds, and what would make them easier to use.

  • Safety and comfort

  • Tell us how we can make reporting feel safe, private and culturally respectful. We also want to know what helps people trust the process.

  • Policy clarity

  • Tell us if the updated Policy is easy to read and understand, and what changes to the wording or layout would make it clearer.
