News update
About the reserve
Barry Powell Reserve is located on Halton Road, Noble Park North.
This district level reserve is approximately 10 hectares in size and is a multi-purpose park that supports the growing sports clubs, as well as providing recreational and play infrastructure to meet the recreational and social needs of the diverse Noble Park North community.
The reserve has two ovals, a sports pavilion, two playgrounds, a dog off-leash area, BBQ and picnic facilities, tennis courts, and cricket nets. The Jan Wilson Community Centre is located in the reserve.
Barry Powell Reserve is also classified as a Sports Reserve, providing facilities and spaces for club-based cricket, football and soccer.
Project information
This project is part of the Barry J Powell Reserve Master Plan 2020.
A priority project from the master plan is to prepare a design for a new district-level playground at Barry Powell Reserve. As part of the master plan, the existing playground next to the sports pavilion will be demolished to make way for the future construction of the netball courts.
Revised location for the playground
The new playground was planned to be located within the large grass area to the south-west of the Jan Wilson Community Centre.
Following community consultation, we determined that the best outcome would be to expand the size of the East neighbourhood-level playground that is currently under construction to a make it a district-level playground.
This will create a single destination playground at Barry Powell Reserve for the community to enjoy.
